Welcome to my site on the backroad adventures of North Carolina. With an extensive coastline, heavily wooded Piedmont regions, and the beautiful mountains along the Great Smokey Mountains there are plenty of great places to explore.

I'm constantly finding new places to explore. I started with both Revolutionary and Civil War battlegrounds. North Carolina was in a key location for both.

There are the plantations of North Carolina. Also the story of civil rights with historical places like the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum in Sedalia.

The mountains give us the Blue Ridge Parkway, white water rafting, Asheville, Grandfather Mountain and the Snow Ski resorts.

North Carolina is also famous for golf, with well over 100 golf clubs in the state. From famous links like Pinehurst to local 9 holes, there's a fairway near you where ever you are in North Carolina.

After a morning round of golf you can try stopping in one of North Carolina's new wineries. There's nothing like sipping a cold glass of wine overlooking the pine forests around the vineyard. Or celebrate a wedding among the vines with family and friends.

Politics is heating up with primaries right around the corner. Will Larry Kissell beat Robin Hayes this year? Will the Democrats find someone to run against Lizzie Dole? Will this be the year of the Democrat, or will a Goldwater Republican named Ron Paul steal the thunder from the Democrats once again? Will Congressman Walter Jones pay or prosper for his stand against the Iraq war? That and some thoughts on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and evolution and death and original sin on the North Carolina Blog.
